|This is the original press plate used to print the comic page which I have matted opposite it. The press plate is the only one of it’s kind in existence. Each would provide the centerpiece to a collection.
Today, animation cells are reproduced much like lithographs and offered as limited edition collectibles. (You may purchase # 19 / 500, for example). This is not the case with the comic press plates offered here. These are vintage collectibles from 20 to nearly 50 years old. These are not reproductions, and by owning one, you own # 1 / 1.
Each plate is engraved with the comic issue number and page number along its border.
This has allowed me to match the plate with the comic page printed from it so many years ago. Pairing them together again makes a unique collectible that will become the centerpiece to your collection.
It was a common practice to melt down the press plates shortly after the comic books were printed, therefore, very few exist today. This method of printing has gone the way of plastics, photography, and computer generated graphics, making those few that survived the melting pot true heirlooms of a past era.
